Prof. Mike Adebamowo studied Architecture at University of Ife, (now OAU) Ile-Ife and finished his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in 1986 and 1988 respectively. He later obtained Master of Architecture degree with Distinction in 2003 at the University of Lagos and Ph.D. degree in Geography and Planning in 2007 at LASU. While at Ife, he made a perfect CGPA Score of 5.0 in year one and obtained the National Merit Award in 1982 – 1986. He also won the University of Ife Undergraduate Scholarship and O.A.U Postgraduate Fellowship Awards in 1983-1986 and 1987-1988 respectively. He worked as an Architect with NNPC, Mosimi from 1986-87 and B-WAKS Consultants from 1988-91 where he sat for his professional examinations and qualified in 1990.
Prof. Mike Adebamowo joined the service of the University of Lagos in 1995 and became a Professor in April 2015. He has served the University in various capacities, as Acting Head of Department, 2010-2013, Head, Department of Architecture, 2015-2017, Dean of Faculty of Environmental Sciences and he is currently the Executive Director, University of Lagos Business School. The erudite scholar has over 40 publications in National and International with Specialization in Sustainable Architecture, Occupant Comfort and Architectural Science. One of his publications won the best paper award of emerald in 2018.
As a Consulting Architect, he has designed and supervised several projects including Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Religious and Institutional projects. Notable among these are the Golden Park Estate, Lekki; Adetokunbo Sofoluwe Memorial Park, Unilag, Faculty of Arts Building, Unilag; Faculty of Education Building, Unilag, Faculty of Science Building, UNILAG, Remodelling of the University of Lagos Main Gate, Martinos Event Centre; R&A City Hotel Ikeja; The Summit Hall; Multi-Storey Car Park for Island Club; and The Citadel for The Latter Rain Assembly, Redeemers Health Village Project All these projects were designed with sustainability considerations to have positive impact on the environment.
He is a member of Network for Comfort and Energy Use in Buildings (NCEUB) UK, member American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and Fellow of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Pollution Mitigation (SETPOM) and Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA). He is the cluster lead for Urban Design and Sustainable Infrastructure Cluster of the African Research University Alliance for Housing. He is also the Lead Pastor of Grace & Glory Chapel, Lagos and is happily married with children.
