Dr. Tolulope Florence OLUFUNLAYO
EHCM Coordinator

Dr. Olufunlayo is a public health physician and lecturer with several years of experience. She qualified as a physician at the University of Lagos in 1991, and obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health from Tulane University, USA in 1997. She became a fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Public Health in 2008, after undergoing residency training at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. Tolu is currently a Postgraduate Researcher at the University of Birmingham, UK, working towards a PhD in Public Health.

As a lecturer, Tolu has taught across several subject areas including health management, reproductive health, primary health care, public health nutrition, and epidemiology. She has successfully supervised numerous projects/dissertations at undergraduate and masters’ level of study, and was the coordinator of the Residency Training Programme in Community Health, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, from 2010 to 2016. She is the pioneer coordinator of the Executive Healthcare Management Certificate Programme at the University of Lagos Business School.

 

“Tolu has served as a consultant and trainer to a number of organizations, including Arrive Alive, Save the Children Inc. and the Federal Ministry of Health; she is presently the Chairman of the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter. She was a Mentee under the 2012/2013 cycle of the WHO ‘Mentor Violence and Injury Prevention’ (Mentor-VIP) programme, and currently serves on the advisory board of the Child Injury Prevention Alliance (CIPA) based in the USA. She has a passion to mentor younger physicians and other health professionals in the field of public health. Her current research interests include child passenger safety; maternal, newborn and child health; health planning and management; and primary health care”.
