Objectives

The specific objectives include and not limited to ability:

  • To bridge the huge manpower deficit currently experienced in the ethical financial market.
  • To provide opportunity for individuals with relevant working experience to acquire knowledge and training for a career in Islamic banking and finance.
  • To train executives in the banking and finance industry desiring specialization in Islamic banking and finance, in order to assist in expanding the banking and finance industry. 
  • To provide opportunity for graduates of other disciplines to acquire necessary skills in Islamic banking and finance in order to prepare them to enter into the job market in Islamic banking and finance

Intended Learning Outcomes:

The programme seeks to produce:

  • Specialists to metamorphose efficiency/economic status-quo to urban structure and the environment with a view to improving the level-of-service of the urban freight transport systems.
  • Urban transport planners to mitigate negative impacts of transport, notably freight transport on urban environment.
  • Active participants, who will enforce truck restraints so that public transit modes would not compete for limited road space in line with the Lagos State Road Traffic Law of 2012.
  • Agents of remedial measures involving transport planning and logistics, within the framework of city logistics.
  • Urban transport policy makers equipped with the in-depth knowledge of managing the transport system and its operation with the urban environment.

Admission Requirements

The criteria for admission into the Executive Master of Islamic Finance of the ULBS will be as follows:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Islamic Finance, Finance, Banking & Finance, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Accounting, Education Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Political Science and Public Administration with minimum of a Second Class Lower from the University of Lagos or any other recognized University.
  • Candidates with HND (lower credit) in Finance, Accounting, Banking & Finance, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, and Statistics with Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) (with CGPA 2.4) in Islamic Finance, Economics, Finance, or Accounting from the University of Lagos or any other recognised University and a minimum of three years working experience.
  • Candidates with Bachelor’s (honours) degree in any other field with Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) (with CGPA 2.40) in Islamic Finance, Economics, Finance, Insurance, Accounting from the University of Lagos or any other recognised University.
  • All candidates must have five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the ‘O’ Level.

Graduation Requirements

Duration of Programme:

The duration of the Executive Master in Non-Interest Finance programme shall be a minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.

Minimum number of earned credit hours:

To qualify for the award of Executive Master in Non-Interest Finance, a candidate must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Pass a minimum of 36 units made up as follows; 9 core courses, 6 elective courses and a Dissertation of 6 units.

  • Minimum CGPA of 2.40 requirements as stipulated by the School of Postgraduate studies.
  • Candidates must satisfy all other requirements as contained in the regulation of the School of Postgraduate studies and the University of Lagos Business School.
